Meet our SLT
Please find an introduction to our SLT and Phase leaders below.
Mrs C Malone - Headteacher
My name is Cassandra Malone and I am the Head Teacher of Sevenoaks Primary School.
I joined the school in January 2019 after over a decade of working in London Boroughs.
I have been in the teaching profession for twenty years and have worked across four schools, in a range of areas & contexts.
I began my teaching career in Kent, where I also studied for my degree. Since qualifying, I have had the privilege of teaching across the Primary range. Alongside my teaching experience, I have held a vast array of responsibilities; these range from various English and curriculum specialisms to being a local authority moderator. My leadership roles have been just as varied. In addition to being a class teacher, I have also had roles as an Assistant Head, Deputy Head and Head Teacher.
My specialist studies at university allowed me to publish an article on gender stereotypes, which still remains a firm area of interest to me. I have since studied to become MBTi (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) qualified, and have undertaken various coaching roles and training programmes in order to support my work on coaching cultures and leadership development in teams. I am also a member of the British school of coaching after undertaking a level 5 acreditation.
In my previous headship, my school was a National Support school that offered various support to local schools and schools within the MAT (Multi Academy Trust) that it founded. This support included leadership development, the development of outstanding teaching, and provision for the most vulnerable pupils.
During my eight years at my previous school, we gained various accreditations, including the IQM (Inclusion Quality Mark), many sporting awards and basic skills quality marks. I moved on from the school after leading it through an Ofsted that achieved Outstanding judgements in every inspection category.
Today, in my role as Head Teacher, I regularly provide training and support to leaders and other schools and really enjoy the mutual learning that takes place through this support. I have joined the Sevenoaks partnership group and look forward to being part of the exciting opportunities that this work can bring to the children of Sevenoaks.
Miss J Durkin - Deputy Head
Hi, I am the Deputy Headteacher, Jane Durkin.
I have been teaching for over twenty years, more than half of them at Sevenoaks Primary. Having taught in three other Primary Schools in Sevenoaks and two British International Schools, I have gained experience teaching in both key stages and with a number of managerial roles.
My main role at Sevenoaks Primary is to oversee the day to day running of the school, the curriculum and the teaching and learning. I am proud to be a part of the Sevenoaks team as its values and visions are akin with mine. That is, firstly, a drive for improvement, always challenging ourselves to be the best that we can, to meet the needs of all of our children. Secondly, a curriculum that reaches beyond the classroom to develop the whole child. I particularly enjoy the sport and SPSA events at our school but love the wealth of creative opportunities we also provide. This school buzzes with activity and I am enjoying being a part of that 'buzz'!
You will often see me around and about so do come and say hello.
Mrs K Randall - Deputy Head
Hi, I am one of the Deputy Head teachers, Kirsty Randall, and I am thrilled to have joined the wonderful Sevenoaks Primary School family.
I have been a teacher for over 26 years, and have gained experience of teaching and leadership in many schools, across both secondary and primary phases in Kent. I fell in love with the spontaneous nature of the primary phase 16 years ago, and haven't looked back since!
Encouraging children to be curious, creative and courageous in their learning has always been my passion, as well as ensuring school is an inclusive, exciting and inspiring place where the highest expectations for all are paramount.
I love the warm, respectful and purposeful atmosphere here at Sevenoaks; the children are always busy investigating and curiously exploring whilst striving to achieve their personal goals. I am passionate about learning: even as an adult I love gaining new knowledge and skills. Learning is especially impactful if along the way we have overcome mistakes, which is why I always value and celebrate errors we can learn from.
I can always be spotted around the school, supporting the staff and the children, or greeting families on the gates. Please do come and say ‘hello…’ I can’t wait to meet you all.
Mrs S White - Assistant Head
Hello, I am Sarah White and am very pleased to have joined the Sevenoaks Primary School community. My roles include being one of the Assistant Head Teachers and also a class teacher.
I am originally from New Zealand (the accent is a bit of a give-away) and after gaining my degree and teaching for three years in a very small school in New Zealand I decided to spread my wings and move to the UK. After many years here it is safe to say it is now the place I call home. I have been lucky enough to work in a range of schools across Inner London and Kent. Throughout my career, I have worked across all key stages. I feel by having this wealth of experience I can cater to the needs of all children in my care.
I have spent the last six years developing my skills as a senior leader. I enjoy working with and supporting others, sharing my expertise and ensuring all children have the opportunity to reach their potential. I am excited by continuing to develop a growth mindset culture within Sevenoaks Primary and supporting children on their learning journey.
If you see me around, please come and say hello! I look forward meeting you all and being part of the school community.
Mr J Homewood - Assistant Head

Hello, I am Joshua Homewood, one of the Assistant Headteachers at Sevenoaks Primary School. As part of my role, I will be overseeing Teaching and Learning across the school. I came into the profession to make a positive impact on children’s learning, increase their desire to learn and enable them to become independent, life-long learners.
During my career, I have worked in schools across Kent. At my previous school, I had a full-time teaching commitment whilst juggling the introduction of the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme. Over the years, I have enjoyed teaching a wide range of year groups through the primary phase, with the majority of this being in the juniors. Throughout my career I have been a reflective practitioner and enjoyed working with colleagues to help develop teaching and learning to help ensure the best possible outcomes for all children within our care.
When I first visited Sevenoaks Primary School, the welcoming atmosphere and enthusiasm of the staff and students was something that stuck with me and is something that I am very excited to be a part of.
If you see me around the school, please make sure you come and say hello.
Mrs K Mayes - Phase 3 Leader
Hello! I’m Kerry Mayes, leader of Phase 3 and also class teacher in that phase. I have many years of teaching experience in a range of different schools, where I have taught across the Primary ages, but absolutely love the community feeling and dedication to children that I have found at Sevenoaks Primary. As a passionate teacher, I want to share my wealth of experience with others so that all children are guided by the adults around them to achieve their very best. At Sevenoaks Primary, I have gained a deepening knowledge of using a relational approach to ensure children are ready to engage with their learning.
As Phase Leader, I am thrilled to be guiding and supporting the staff in their learning journey alongside your children. Please do say hello at any time and feel free to ask questions or make suggestions, which I will do my very best to answer.
Miss M West - Phase 2 Leader
Hello, my name is Marilyn West and I am the Phase 2 Leader whilst also being a teacher within the same Phase. I am delighted to be part of the Sevenoaks Primary School family.
I am a passionate teacher with 20 years experience, teaching children at all years within the primary range. I have taught in London, Oxfordshire and Kent. Past roles include leading a curriculum team and mentoring students and newly qualified teachers.
As your child’s Phase Leader, some of my responsibilities are to co-ordinate and monitor teaching and learning across the phase, monitor and evaluate progress, and oversee behaviour.
Please do come and say hello and know that I am here to help if you have any questions.
Mrs R Bye - Phase 1 Leader
Hello, my name is Rebecca Bye and I am the Phase 1 leader and class teacher of Lions Class.
I have been teaching for 11 years (9 in early years and 7 of those an early years lead). I am originally from Yorkshire where I completed my teacher training. I’ve since taught in London and Kent where I’ve held various roles including Assistant Head teacher, curriculum lead and mentor to a number of newly qualified teachers.
I’m passionate about early years’ education as it’s such a special time in your child’s development. With so many ‘wow’ moments, it’s a real privilege to be part of their journey.
I’m looking forward to meeting you during the school year, and please do not hesitate to come and say hello or ask anything about your child’s education.
