PSHE is at the heart of our curriculum at Sevenoaks Primary School. Giving children a quality PSHE education will equip them with the skills necessary to achieve, not only in school, but in life. Providing children with attributes such as self-esteem and confidence are invaluable. These attributes lead to better academic attainment, since they remove barriers to learning.
The importance of PSHE within the curriculum is evidenced by the introductory statement within the National Curriculum:
2.1 Every state-funded school must offer a curriculum which is balanced and broadly based and which:
  1.  promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
The relationship between Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education and Sevenoaks Primary School is an integral one. Discrete lessons are taught according to a scheme of work. However our PSHE learning extends far deeper than this, as we have a common ethos in developing healthy, independent, resilient and confident children who will carry these skills into their adult life. This common ethos starts in Reception and carries on through to Year 6, preparing for their lives at a secondary school.  Our PSHE curriculum empowers our children to be able to tackle everyday challenges and enables them to learn to their full potential.
The PSHE Overview is currently under development.
