SPS U9 chess team at the National Schools' Semi-finals
Chess at Camber Sands - Semi-finals of the national schools' chess competition
Well done to the SPS U9 Chess team of Danny, William, Edward N, Toby, Edward E and Scarlet, who recently competed at the semi-finals of the national schools' chess competition.
The semi-finals is a large tournament, which was held over the weekend of 21-22nd May at Pontins, Camber Sands. There are lots of school teams from across the south of the country competing, and there were around forty in the U9 section. It is a big achievement for the SPS team to have got through to this round of the national competition.
The children played six games of long-play chess over the two days and between rounds had lots of fun at the beach and negotiating the amusements and facilities on offer at Pontins. Everyone in the team played some great chess and there were some exciting games and good wins.
The SPS U9 team finished the competition with 15 and half points out of 30 and a Bronze Award.
