Healthy School
Encouraging the children to adopt a healthy lifestyle is a key priority.
Sevenoaks Primary was one of the first schools to receive recognition as a Healthy School.
The school has also been granted a quality mark for our sporting provision. Over the years we have increased substantially the number of opportunities available to the children.
We organise a ‘Healthy Schools’ week, with a focus on healthy eating and increased
physical activity. Additional PE equipment has been purchased and we have midday assistants responsible for developing playground games.
The school offers nearly 40 clubs, with a significant number of a sporting nature. Outside coaches supplement the activities offered by our own staff.
Children are encouraged to bring water bottles into the classroom. All Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children have daily fruit or vegetables at break times. The Breakfast Club is open to all children.
In 2005, the school entered into new catering arrangements in order to provide healthy, nutritious meals. We have arranged for chefs to visit the school and promote healthy eating and have even organised our own ‘Ready Steady Cook’!
The School Council organise the Mile Run events each year, encouraging all pupils to complete a mile!
Sevenoaks Primary has also participated in the Sports For Schools challenge, where the children have raised money for new sports equipment for the school by being sponsored to take part in an exercise challenge.
